Overview

David joined the firm in 2009 and negotiates, structures, and closes a wide spectrum of commercial real estate transactions on behalf of his clients. As former Vice President and Associate General Counsel for Sony Electronics Inc., David was the principal in-house real estate lawyer for Sony’s U.S. operations and counseled all levels of management for not only the consumer electronics and professional broadcast product companies but also for Sony’s diverse film and music entertainment companies and its video and interactive game development company. David now leverages that extensive transactional experience with his in-house perspective to provide the leadership his clients need to get deals done, on time and on budget.

David guides corporate clients to find and achieve successful legal and business solutions in leasing, acquisition, sale, construction, zoning, finance, project management, and related matters. He anticipates and resolves diverse obstacles and fosters cooperation and a collaborative approach with other transactional participants to enhance his client’s successful outcome. David also understands the need to involve the different business and corporate groups of his clients such as facilities, procurement, risk management, and of course, legal, and draws upon his significant managerial experience to deliver results to his clients in every representation.

During David’s 25-year tenure at Sony he provided legal services for its real estate portfolio and guided Sony through numerous and complex transactions involving corporate, administrative and sales offices, distribution centers, manufacturing facilities, retail stores, research and development operations, and production and editing studios for music, film, television production and motion capture. David was also tasked with additional management responsibility as Sony’s Regional Environmental Officer with oversight for environmental compliance and adherence to corporate conservation programs across Sony’s North, Central and South American operations.

Since 2008 David, partnered with his certified Animal Assisted Therapy dogs, has been an active volunteer for Paws for Patients, the pet therapy program at New York Presbyterian-Columbia Medical Center’s Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital. David’s other interests include photography and travel to such venues as the mountain gorillas of Rwanda and Uganda, safaris throughout lower Africa and central India, meeting remote tribespeople of Myanmar’s hill country, and attending Buddhist festivals in Bhutan as well as traveling to more familiar destinations throughout Europe.
